The payment of the boss. The finances of the CEO. The bank account of the head honcho. This has long been a topic of investors, directors, and base level employees alike for almost as long as corporations have existed. Basic employees envy it. Directors can’t justify it. Investors wonder if keep is being properly earned. In a recent article by CNN, the high payment of CEOs was ranked according to status and positioning from within the company, as well as in correlation to actual work performed. The stock market has seen a recent shift as a result of new earnings reports to S&P companies that prove their top dogs salaries come from actual grind instead of clout (I guess we all can’t be Cardi).

In the span of talking about small business, this seems to hit relatively far from home in the grand scheme of starting a small business in a large community, however, we are still keeping an eye out for movements. Why? Because the leaders of this board are those that are going to influence some of the business entrepreneurs we see expansively today, that you see now in your own town, and that we personally see in our own community here in CLT.  These are the folks who are going to be using our services, at our expo events, networking with us over drinks, and who we ultimately want to converse with to gain popularity as our own growing business. These are the people who will replace the CEOs of today, otherwise known as the folks who are following in the footsteps of the leaderboard rankings now. Jeff Bezos copycats, anyone?

I’ll be eager to see how the next generation of these bosses stack up, and how we will be in the ranking in the next 10 years as our own small fish in a big pod. Hopefully, a medium sized fish is on the horizon. I can’t help but wonder if I will be making a fraction of as  much money as these people seem to be making, and with just as much of a justifiable reason (but with maybe a little less criticism, dare I say?). Wishing, and hoping, and dreaming on this Monday. From one startup to another, happy first of week everyone.
