In our second installment of our small business series, we look to another small town gem in Asheboro, NC. Magnolia 23.

Nestled in the small country roads near to the last restaurant we highlighted, The Table, this Southern home cooking joint draws crowds near and far for their down home soul food specialty plates. Don Simmons opened the place upon retirement, after contemplation by him and his wife to expand on their own food related dreams. He grew up country, and wanted to give back to the community that he knows and loves.

Not only is the food affordable, the atmosphere is full of love, family, and the smell of their top tier fried chicken (ranked within the top 100 in the U.S.; see the link below!) wafts in the air as Simmons greets his customers. We love Magnolia 23 because the people value locality, tradition, and loyalty to their town. Not only does this small business symbolize everything that we hold true, but seeing other locals giving back to their own local economy thrills us.

These locals support you, Magnolia 23. Pride in Asheboro is pretty darn cool to us.
