How to cultivate, but also raise and nurture an individual who contributes to the world is difficult. With Mother’s Day on the horizon, Esther’s Wojcicki’s book on “How to Raise Successful People” couldn’t be released at a better time. She cites trust, respect, independence, collaboration, and kindness as values that give children the foundation necessary to succeed in life.

Her words beg the question, what if we used these same values in our business practices as adults. Although old habits die hard from younger years, acquiring these perspectives may be just what the doctor ordered. A willingness to take risks, trust in said risks to manifest into the right choices, and kindness to all in the process form an ideology that has the potential to revitalize interactions in the business market.

Although I agree with Esther that instilling these values at an early age is useful, I also believe there is something to be said to teaching an old dog new tricks.

Trust yourself, you know more than you think you do.
